THE PREDICTION
This Valencian derby is between two sides that have underperformed their pre-season expectations, to different extents. Villarreal would’ve been hoping for a legitimate push towards UEFA Champions League qualification following them winning the UEFA Europa League last season. The management of Unai Emery, though, can verge on conservatism in the final stages of matches and a tendency to settle for a draw is often a blight. They come up against a Levante side that come into this on the back of an improvement in their style of play and performance prior to the Christmas winter break, but they remain the only winless team in Europe’s six major leagues after churning through two managers and moving on to Alessio Lisci within the first-half of the year. A fairly entertaining encounter could be in store with Villarreal still expected to win, especially at home.
