VILLARREAL PREVIEW: RESPARKING THEMSELVES

Under the management of former Olympique de Marseille and Valencia boss Marcelino, Villarreal’s intention and goal is to get back into UEFA competition and they have made an excellent start to that goal with just one defeat in their opening seven matches so far this season.

With three second-half stoppage-time winners already in what has been a fun and dramatic start to the campaign, Villarreal recovered from their 5-1 loss at home to Barcelona by coming from 1-0 down in Catalonia to win by two goals to one thanks to a brace from the in-form Ayoze Perez.

LAS PALMAS PREVIEW: FINDING A SPARK

Over the summer, Las Palmas lost manager Garcia Pimienta to Sevilla after the coach had led them to promotion in the 2022/23 campaign before comfortably finishing in mid-table last year. The Canary Islanders have struggled for any sort of rhythm this time around, though, following the appointment of Luis Carrion.

They come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw at home to Real Betis in midweek with Alberto Moleiro scoring once again before Giovani Lo Celso levelled things. That was their third home draw of the season after sharing the spoils with both Real Madrid and Sevilla and they are the only points that they have collected.

VILLARREAL TEAM NEWS: THE AYOZE PARTY

The form of Ayoze Perez is a blessing for Villarreal due to key attacking injuries and absentees as club captain Gerard Moreno remains sidelined alongside Yeremy Pino.

There are also defensive issues for the home team to deal with as Willy Kambwala remains sidelined alongside both Juan Foyth and Alfonso Pedraza.

PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): Conde; Kiko Femenia, Raul Albiol, Costa, Sergi Cardona; Akhomach, Santi Comesana, Gueye, Alex Baena; Ayoze Perez, Barry

UNAVAILABLE: Kambwala (Injured), Juan Foyth (Injured), Alfonso Pedraza (Injured), Yeremy Pino (Injured), Gerard Moreno (Injured)

LAS PALMAS TEAM NEWS: CHANGES AND ROTATION

Scotland international defender Scott McKenna is unavailable for this one and his compatriot Oli McBurnie has recently been dropped to the bench without a goal so far this season.

Adnan Januzaj has finally reached full fitness after signing in the summer but defenders Mika Marmol and Marvin Park are both sidelined for the foreseeable future.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Cillessen; Viti, Herzog, Alex Munoz, Sinkgraven; Dario Essugo, Loiodice, Kirian Rodriguez; Sandro Ramirez, Silva, Alberto Moleiro

UNAVAILABLE: Mika Marmol (Injured), Park (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: McKenna (Injured)

VILLARREAL VS LAS PALMAS PREDICTION

There is depth to this Villarreal so, whilst games are coming thick and fast at the moment in La Liga, they have the ability to remain fresh and rotate quite a bit. Las Palmas are not as bad as their results suggest and they have had a fairly difficult fixture list so far but there is coming a point of desperation to their need for three points. Both sides play quite entertaining football so both teams scoring with a home win seems a good value bet.
