SEVILLA PREVIEW: ANOTHER STRUGGLE FOR SEVILLA
Over the last few years, the operations at Sevilla have been underperforming, both with Monchi and now with former Leeds United and Middlesbrough Sporting Director Victor Orta. They have required three managers in each of the last two seasons simply to push away from the bottom three and the relegation places.
Former Las Palmas boss Garcia Pimienta replaced Quique Sanchez Flores in the summer and he began the season by returning to the Canary Islands with a 2-2 draw against Sevilla on the opening weekend. Since then, though, they have suffered a late loss at home to Villarreal before then sharing a goalless draw in the heat of the Balearic Islands against Real Mallorca.
GIRONA PREVIEW: THE GENIUS OF GIRONA
For a second successive summer, Girona have had the guts of their side ripped out but, with City Football Group ownership, they do have the means to be able to rebuild – as they did last season. Michel’s Catalans, in just their fifth season ever in La Liga, finished third and qualified for the UEFA Champions League.
The visitors started this season by stealing a point at the Benito Villamarin against Real Betis in Sevilla with a late equaliser before they were then beaten by three goals to nil by Atletico Madrid. In midweek, though, they welcomed Osasuna to Catalonia and dispatched of them by four goals to nil in a performance that speaks volumes for Michel’s coaching.

SEVILLA VS GIRONA PREDICTION
Garcia Pimienta is known for playing a progressive and proactive style of football and that was shown at times in their opening games against Las Palmas and Villarreal but their goalless draw against Mallorca was extremely underwhelming in extreme heat. They now face a Girona side that look like they may be stumbling upon another genius rebuild from Michel. Backing the visitors against disorganised opposition looks a good bet for this one.
