SEVILLA PREVIEW: PRESSURE ON GARCIA PIMIENTA

In each of the last two seasons, Sevilla have required three different managers in order to eventually steer themselves clear of the bottom three and the relegation places. It appears like this season may once again be a relegation battle but the state of the squad and off-the-field circumstances make it seem unlikely that the Andalusian giants will recover this time.

Garcia Pimienta is a good coach and he took the job this summer, leaving Las Palmas. He began with a 2-2 draw against Las Palmas in the Canary Islands before they then suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Villarreal and a 2-0 loss at home to Girona with those defeats sandwiching an underwhelming goalless draw in the heat of Palma de Mallorca against Real Mallorca in the Balearic Islands.

GETAFE PREVIEW: GETAFE’S GROOVE

Under the management of Jose Bordalas, Getafe have played in the knockout stages of the UEFA Europa League. The Madrid-based club have performed well and punched above their weight with an aggressive and hostile style of football that often has them at the bottom of the fair play table.

That is not the case this time around but the depleted and very thin Getafe squad have actually started the campaign relatively well with three draws from three matches to kick off. They began with a 1-1 draw at San Mames against Athletic Club before back-to-back goalless draws against Rayo Vallecano and Real Sociedad at the Coliseum.

SEVILLA TEAM NEWS: KEY ABSENTEES

Sevilla are dealing with several absentees for this weekend’s visit of Getafe, especially in midfield, with Djibril Sow and Albert Sambi Lokonga both missing through injury.

As well as those two, former Chelsea and Atletico Madrid man Saul Niguez is out suspended with Loic Bade, Suso and Lucas Ocampos all also sidelined for the Andalusians.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Nyland; Jose Angel Carmona, Peque, Marcao, Barco; Agoume, Idumbo; Lukebakio, Juanlu Sanchez, Ejuke; Isaac Romero

UNAVAILABLE: Bade (Injured), Sow (Injured), Lokonga (Injured), Saul (Suspended), Suso (Injured), Ocampos (Injured)

GETAFE TEAM NEWS: DEPLETED SQUAD

Jose Bordalas has a depleted squad to work with so far this season with Christantus Uche filling in quite well as a lone striker in the opening three games of the season.

Former Real Madrid and Roma striker Borja Mayoral remains unavailable for the visitors this weekend but another Madrid academy graduate, Alvaro, could make his debut.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): David Soria; Jorge Iglesias, Djene, Omar Alderete, Diego Rico; Luis Milla, Aberdin; Carles Perez, Uche, Alex Sola; Yildirim

UNAVAILABLE: Borja Mayoral (Injured)

SEVILLA VS GETAFE PREDICTION

This one has the potential to be extremely tedious for the neutral. Sevilla, under Garcia Pimienta, would look to play a proactive and progressive style of football but they just don’t have the talent for it. Getafe, on the other hand, lack any sort of personnel to be fun, as shown by back-to-back goalless draws even though there has been a slight tweak to the style and system. A low-scoring encounter is to be expected for this one.

SEVILLA VS GETAFE TIP: UNDER 2.5 GOALS
