REAL MALLORCA PREVIEW: TAKING ADVANTAGE OF BEING AT HOME

Former Osasuna boss Jago Arrasate returned to El Sadar at the weekend with Real Mallorca looking to build on a strong start to the season after they had shared a 1-1 draw with Real Madrid on the opening day of the campaign. However, back in Navarre, Jago Arrasate fell to his first defeat as Mallorca boss.

In what was an extremely even contest, Ruben Garcia’s 55th minute strike was enough to punish a Mallorca side that managed just one shot on target. Mallorca have recruited to a more progressive style in recent seasons and there will be an expectation that comes to fruition after the relative success of Mexican coach Javier Aguirre.

SEVILLA PREVIEW: ANOTHER SEASON OF STRUGGLE BECKONS FOR SEVILLA

In each of the last two seasons, Sevilla have required three managers before actually pushing themselves away from the bottom three and the relegation places. A fallen giant of Spanish football, there appears to be confusion and general issues off the pitch as the Andalusians look to try and finally improve once again this time around.

However, Garcia Pimienta’s opening game in charge saw him take Sevilla to his former side Las Palmas and they were held to a 2-2 draw in the Canary Islands before they then welcomed Villarreal to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan at the weekend with Ayoze Perez scoring a winner for Villarreal deep into second-half stoppage-time.

REAL MALLORCA TEAM NEWS: CAN BE UNCHANGED

Jago Arrasate has tweaked from a back three to a four-at-the-back system, even when facing Real Madrid, as they try to play a more progressive and proactive style of football.

Even despite defeat the other day, things will need to gel for the Balearic Islanders so the likelihood is that they name an unchanged eleven for the visit of Sevilla.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Greif; Pablo Maffeo, Valjent, Antonio Raillo, Johan Mojica; Samu Costa, Omar Mascarell, Sergi Darder; Asano, Muriqi, Dani Rodriguez

UNAVAILABLE: Javi Llabres (Injured)

SEVILLA TEAM NEWS: STILL NO SUSO

Sevilla, with their Director of Football former Middlesbrough and Leeds United man Victor Orta, will have to have a busy final week of the transfer window with quite a small squad, despite not many injury concerns.

They do still have one key issue to deal with and will have to deal with it for quite some time with former Liverpool and AC Milan midfielder Suso missing due to a knee injury this weekend.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Nyland; Jose Angel Carmona, Bade, Kike Salas, Adria Pedrosa; Juanlu Sanchez, Agoume, Saul; Lukebakio, Isaac Romero, Ocampos

UNAVAILABLE: Suso (Injured)

REAL MALLORCA VS SEVILLA PREDICTION

Real Mallorca have just one point from two games and one shot on target against Osasuna at the weekend would suggest this is still a very similar style of football to Javier Aguirre’s last couple of years. However, an enterprising start against Madrid would seriously worry Sevilla this weekend as a fallen giant of Spanish football look set for what could be another tough season, despite the impressive record and seemingly good appointment of Garcia Pimienta.
