THE LOWDOWN
REAL MADRID
With captain Karim Benzema departing for Al-Ittihad in the summer and some uncertainty over the future of Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid have come into this season in transition but Los Blancos have started relatively well, albeit reliant on their newest ‘galactico’, Jude Bellingham, who has been simply sensational.
In their ten matches across all competitions so far this season, they have won nine matches and Jude Bellingham has scored eight goals with three assists in those games. They managed an impressive 3-0 hammering of Girona in La Liga last weekend in what was a top-of-the-table clash. They will continue to rotate ahead of the international break.
OSASUNA
Last season, Osasuna finished the 2023/24 La Liga campaign in seventh position, earning UEFA Europa Conference League qualification. That, combined with reaching the Copa del Rey final, was a very impressive campaign for the Pamplona club and was always expected to be one that was difficult to live up to this time around.
Jago Arrasate’s side begin this weekend sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table with three victories, a draw and four defeats in their opening eight matches. They recovered from a frustrating 2-0 loss at home to Atletico Madrid by going to the Basque Country and defeating Alaves by two goals to nil last weekend.
THE TEAM NEWS
REAL MADRID
Carlo Ancelotti is dealing with something of a defensive injury crisis as three centre-backs, Nacho Fernandez, David Alaba and Eder Militao, will be missing.

QUESTIONABLE:
OSASUNA
Osasuna have a couple of injury issues for their trip to the capital city this weekend as both Moi Gomez and Unai Garcia will be missing for this one.

THE PREDICTION
Real Madrid will go into the October international break at the top-of-the-table in La Liga if they defeat Osasuna this weekend. Los Blancos come into this on the back of a 3-2 win against Napoli which was a continuation of generally unconvincing performances but they face an Osasuna side that, despite their much-needed 2-0 win at Alaves last weekend, will be a little irritated by their start to the season and a comfortable Madrid win is the expected outcome for this one.
