It has been an underwhelming start to the 2024/25 La Liga season for Real Betis and Manuel Pellegrini could do with three points as his Andalusians welcome newly-promoted Leganes to the Benito Villamarin.

REAL BETIS PREVIEW: IFFY FROM BETIS

Former Manchester City and West Ham United coach Manuel Pellegrini has been keen on bringing in recognisable faces to Real Betis during his tenure but the lack of cohesion within the squad has been reflected on the pitch so far this season with Betis picking up just two points in their opening three matches of the season.

Betis have managed to get through to the league phase of the UEFA Europa Conference League with a playoff round win over Ukrainian Premier League outfit Krvybas. However, they began with back-to-back draws against Girona and then ten-man Deportivo Alaves before losing comfortably to a Kylian Mbappe brace against Real Madrid.

LEGANES PREVIEW: A PROMISING LEGANES

Following their promotion back to the top-flight last season, simply avoiding relegation would surely be seen as a positive campaign for Leganes this season but under the management of promising coach Borja Jimenez, Los pepineros may well actually be looking to establish themselves safely in the middle-of-the-table.

With a progressive style of football, Lega began their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Osasuna at El Sadar on the opening weekend of the campaign before then defeating Las Palmas by two goals to one. Frustrating results followed, though, with a goalless draw against Real Valladolid before a 1-0 defeat to Real Mallorca at Butaqrue before the international break.

REAL BETIS TEAM NEWS: FRUSTRATION FOR ISCO

After nearing a return to full fitness, former Spain international midfielder Isco has suffered an injury setback so is expected to remain unavailable for Manuel Pellegrini.

Combined with the sale of Nabil Fekir before the end of the summer transfer window, Betis will likely continue to rely upon youngster Rodri as well as Abde Ez for a creative spark.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Silva; Sabaly, Diego Llorente, Natan, Perraud; Carvalho, Iker Losada; Rodri, Pablo Fornals, Abde Ez; Aitor Ruibal

UNAVAILABLE: Mendy (Injured), Isco (Injured), Bakambu (Injured), Juanmi (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Marc Bartra (Injured), Marc Roca (Injured),

LEGANES TEAM NEWS: DOUBTS OVER RENATO TAPIA

Summer signing Renato Tapia, who has been with the Peruvian national side during the international break, remains a doubt for Leganes this weekend as they make the long trip south.

Lega are likely to stick with their 4-2-3-1 system, though, with Seydouba Cisse the most likely replacement for the Peruvian alongside Darko Brasanac in defensive midfield.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Juan Soriano; Adria Altimira, Jorge Saenz, Sergio, Javi Hernandez; Cisse, Brasanac; Dani Raba, Oscar, Munir; Diego Garcia

UNAVAILABLE:

QUESTIONABLE: Renato Tapia (Injured)

REAL BETIS VS LEGANES PREDICTION

This one has the potential to be relatively entertaining for the neutral. Real Betis do have some attacking patterns of play but do seem to lack an energy at this moment in time, or at least did in August. Leganes have only scored three goals in their four games but do have intentions of being a bit more fluent and front foot than that. If things do go as expected then both teams scoring may well be a good bet for this one.
