REAL BETIS PREVIEW: STEADY START

Under the management of former West Ham United, Manchester City and Real Madrid boss Manuel Pellegrini, Real Betis began the 2024/25 La Liga season without a defeat in their opening three matches before they then suffered a 2-0 defeat at the Bernabeu against defending Spanish and European champions Real Madrid a couple of weeks ago.

The Andalusians enjoyed an impressive 5-0 aggregate defeat of Ukrainian Premier League side Kryvbas in the playoffs of the UEFA Europa Conference League last month. Betis cruised to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Leganes at the weekend with second-half strikes from Abde Ez and Vitor Roque.

GETAFE PREVIEW: GETAFE EVOLVING

In his second stint in charge of the club, Jose Bordalas has a really tough task on his hands due to how depleted his Getafe squad is and how few players they actually have available. Four games into the 2024/25 La Liga season, Getafe remain winless and are sitting towards the bottom end of the table already.

Getafe, playing a less aggressive and less hostile style of football, began the campaign with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Athletic Club in the Basque Country on the opening weekend. That impressive point has not been backed up, though, failing to score in their next three matches, losing by a goal to nil against previously winless Sevilla in Seville at the weekend.

REAL BETIS TEAM NEWS: SEVERAL ISSUES

The experienced and exciting talent of Isco has been diminished throughout his career due to injuries and the former Real Madrid man remains unavailable once again for this weekend.

As well as Isco, the likes of William Carvalho and Cedric Bakambu are sidelined for Manuel Pellegrini’s side with former Barcelona defender Marc Bartra a doubt.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Silva; Sabaly, Diego Llorente, Natan, Perraud; Marc Roca, Lo Celso; Avila, Pablo Fornals, Abde Ez; Diao

UNAVAILABLE: Mendy (Injured), Carvalho (Injured), Isco (Injured), Bakambu (Injured), Juanmi (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Marc Bartra (Injured)

GETAFE TEAM NEWS: NO POTENCY IN ATTACK

As mentioned, Getafe have a light and threadbare squad with very few attacking talents to call upon. Christantus Uche has been deployed as a makeshift forward for much of the campaign.

It does not help matters that former Roma and Real Madrid forward Borja Mayoral is out injured alongside Paraguayan international defender Omar Alderete.

PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): David Soria; Jorge Iglesias, Djene, Juan Berrocal, Diego Rico; Carles Perez, Mauro Arambarri, Luis Milla, Alex Sola; Uche, Yildirim

UNAVAILABLE: Omar Alderete (Injured), Borja Mayoral (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

REAL BETIS VS GETAFE PREDICTION

Real Betis will be, once again, looking to push into the top seven and qualify for UEFA competition this season. They have a deep and experienced squad stacked full of talent but do have injury issues to deal with. Getafe are the opposite with very few absentees but still a shallow squad that perhaps lacks the quality that pushed them into mid-table last year. Getafe will not make life easy for any team and, whilst Betis are favourites, a low-scoring encounter remains likely.
