THE LOWDOWN
RAYO VALLECANO
It has been another season of overperformance for Rayo Vallecano after a turbulent summer and continued off-field issues. The Madrid-based club come into this one on the back of a 2-0 victory away to Yeclano in the second round of the Copa del Rey in midweek with an 89th minute goal from Radamel Falcao and then a 94th minute sealer from Raul de Tomas.
Rayo begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table and they have enjoyed a relatively impressive opening few months but that unconvincing victory in midweek was a continuation of some poor form. In La Liga, they have managed just one victory in their last ten matches and they are winless in five.
CELTA VIGO
Celta Vigo are one of Europe’s biggest underperformers. Not just in terms of club size and reputation but the Galicians’ performances have also remained generally impressive without just reward for their work as they begin this weekend sitting in the bottom three and the relegation places in La Liga.
The visitors come into this one on the back of a much-needed but still worryingly hard-fought 2-1 defeat of Sestao in the second round of the Copa del Rey in midweek with a brace from Tasos Douvikas. They were held to a 1-1 draw by ten man Cadiz at Balaidos last weekend, despite, once again, dominating proceedings.

THE PREDICTION
Rayo Vallecano’s current league position flatters them and is a little deceiving of where they really are as a team. The Madrid-based club have been struggling for some time now and it appears a matter of time before they truly tumble. They now face a Celta side that, under the management of Rafa Benitez, are surely on the other end of the spectrum with their performances on the verge of finally paying off. Value should be found in backing a double chance bet in Celta’s favour for this one.
BETTING TIP: DOUBLE CHANCE – CELTA TO WIN OR DRAW
