THE LOWDOWN
RAYO VALLECANO
After a surprisingly bright start to the season, Francisco, who was always an appointment that was met with scepticism by many Rayo Vallecano supporters, departed Rayo recently due to an extremely long, poor run of form that saw them plummet down towards the bottom three and the relegation places.
He was replaced by 33-year-old Inigo Perez, who was Andoni Iraola’s assistant coach before he departed for AFC Bournemouth. Under his tutelage, Rayo have shared a 1-1 draw with champions-elect Real Madrid but they were then hammered by another title challenger, Girona, by three goals to nil last week.
CADIZ
It has been a miserable campaign for Cadiz this season and their current position of 18th in La Liga is actually quite flattering to them based on their overall poor performances and results – and the fact they have actually been the weakest team in the league for quite a few months now as they drift towards the second-tier.
Under the management of former Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino, who replaced Sergio in January, Cadiz begin this weekend sitting in the bottom three but just three points adrift. They won two of their opening four matches of this season but they are now winless in the 22 matches since then.

THE PREDICTION
Inigo Perez would have found his opening two matches to be quite daunting as Rayo Vallecano took on the top two teams in Spain’s top-flight. To come away with a point is respectable enough. Cadiz are winless since the first weekend of September and yet they are not quite cut adrift in the bottom three. Despite not yet winning under Perez, Rayo are the firm favourites, especially with their home advantage.
