OSASUNA PREVIEW: WORRYING START FOR OSASUNA

Over the summer, Osasuna lost their manager who had led them to seventh with UEFA Europa Conference League qualification and a Copa del Rey final as recently as 2023 in Jago Arrasate as he chose to depart the club for Real Mallorca. They have replaced him with Vicente Moreno, who badly struggled in charge of Almeria last season.

The Pamplona-based club began this season with a 1-1 draw against Leganes in which they were the weaker of the two sides before they then unconvincingly edged past Real Mallorca by a goal to nil. Their poor performances were then born out in the result in midweek as Girona hammered them by four goals to nil.

CELTA VIGO PREVIEW: FRUSTRATION FOR CELTA

Last season, Celta Vigo, for a second successive campaign, spent the vast majority of the year battling against finishing in the bottom three and the relegation places with former Liverpool and Real Madrid boss Rafa Benitez. He was eventually sacked and replaced by their B team coach Claudio Giraldez.

The Galicians have since majorly improved and they started this season with back-to-back victories; firstly by two goals to one against Alaves and then by three goals to one against Valencia. After that, though, they endured a topsy turvy game against Villarreal in which they ended up losing 4-3 with Villarreal’s winner coming deep into second-half stoppage-time.

OSASUNA VS CELTA VIGO PREDICTION

Under the management of Vicente Moreno, Osasuna will be fearful that they may actually drift towards the bottom three and the relegation places – especially after what has been a quiet and difficult summer transfer window. Celta players have spoken fondly of playing under Claudio Giraldez and they are playing an enjoyable style of football that will make them confident of exploiting an Osasuna side that were hammered the other day.
