THE PREDICTION

Real Mallorca come into this on the back of a 4-1 hammering at the hands of Granada a couple of weeks ago before the winter break. The Balearic Islanders are due for a long relegation battle this season but they do look well equipped to avoid the drop after a positive start to the campaign. They now come up against a Barcelona side that, under the management of Xavi, are still looking to develop the cohesive and attacking patterns of play that the Catalan club believe is their identity. Barca have improved since Xavi’s appointment but remain slightly disjointed. A low-scoring encounter is expected in this one with the visitors remaining slight favourites.
