THE LOWDOWN
LAS PALMAS
Following their promotion to the top-flight last season, Las Palmas have enjoyed a really impressive campaign as they remain in contention for a top seven finish and potential UEFA Europa Conference League qualification. The Canary Islanders have drifted away, though, ever since their survival was more or less confirmed.
Coached by former Barcelona youth coach Garcia Pimienta, the home team come into this one on the back of a slender 1-0 loss to Barca up in Catalonia a couple of weeks ago on Easter Saturday. That means they have now suffered three successive La Liga losses and they are now winless in their last six matches.
SEVILLA
Last season, Sevilla needed three managers to eventually avoid relegation and then they went and won the UEFA Europa League and this time around, they have needed three managers, once again, to ease themselves away from the bottom three after the sackings of Jose Luis Mendilibar and Diego Alonso before improvement under Quique Sanchez Flores.
The Andalusians begin the weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just six points outside of the bottom three and the relegation places. The visitors come into this one on the back of a 1-0 defeat of Getafe at the Coliseum in their most recent outing a couple of weeks ago with a fifth minute winner from Sergio Ramos.

THE PREDICTION
A few months ago, this one would have appeared like a fairly good opportunity for Las Palmas to edge past Sevilla and continue their fine season. The Canary Islanders have been generally impressive with a controlling style of football that has a tendency to be a little too controlling and not that entertaining to watch. Sevilla, especially with Quique Sanchez Flores, are expected to be defensive and low-scoring themselves but siding with the visitors would also appear good value for this one.
