LAS PALMAS PREVIEW: SLOW START TO THE NEW ERA

At the end of the 2022/23 campaign, Las Palmas confirmed their return to the Spanish top-flight and they then enjoyed an impressive season in La Liga comfortably surviving before taking the last couple of months off with Garcia Pimienta then eventually departing the club and moving to Sevilla.

His Sevilla side returned to Las Palmas on the opening weekend of the season and the two sides shared an entertaining 2-2 draw in the Canary Islands. In their second game of the 2024/25 campaign, Las Palmas then went away to newly-promoted Leganes and suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat.

REAL MADRID PREVIEW: STILL FINDING RHYTHM

Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid began their search for seven trophies this season by winning the first a couple of weeks ago with a 2-0 defeat of Atalanta at the National Stadium in Warsaw in the UEFA Super Cup with Kylian Mbappe opening his goalscoring account for Los Blancos on the night.

In their opening game of the season, though, Los Blancos found themselves frustrated by Real Mallorca in the Balearic Islands and they were eventually held to a 1-1 draw. Then, in their second game, Madrid were whistled off at half-time against Real Valladolid with goals in the 50th, 88th and 90th minutes eventually securing a hard-fought three points.

LAS PALMAS TEAM NEWS: WAITING TO GEL

Las Palmas are still waiting to find the right formula and properly gel this weekend with La Masia academy graduate Luis Carrion replacing Garcia Pimienta in the dugout.

He does have to deal with the frustration of new signing Adnan Januzaj being injured but he’ll hope Oli McBurnie and former Everton striker Sandro Ramirez can form a partnership.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Cillessen; Alex Suarez, McKenna, Mika Marmol, Alex Munoz; Javi Munoz, Kirian Rodriguez; Park, Alberto Moleiro, Sandro Ramirez; McBurnie

UNAVAILABLE: Januzaj (Injured)

REAL MADRID TEAM NEWS: ADJUSTING TO MBAPPE

Carlo Ancelotti has discussed his desire for his players to take a bit more responsibility in terms of letting him know when they are fatigued and tired, especially with a midweek fixture list.

Madrid are already dealing with injury issues this season as both Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga are set for a spell on the sidelines alongside Austria international David Alaba.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Courtois; Dani Carvajal, Militao, Rudiger, Mendy; Fede Valverde, Tchouameni; Rodrygo, Brahim Diaz, Vinicius Junior; Mbappe

UNAVAILABLE: Alaba (Injured), Camavinga (Injured), Bellingham (Injured)

LAS PALMAS VS REAL MADRID PREDICTION

Much like Garcia Pimienta, it is believed that Luis Carrion’s style of football is expected to be quite progressive and proactive in La Liga this season so, with a 4-2-3-1 system, they may not sit back against Madrid. That may actually play into the hands of the visitors, though, allowing for the likes of Vinicius, Rodrygo and Mbappe to get the space they require as they try to gel. An entertaining away win looks likely.

LAS PALMAS VS REAL MADRID TIP: REAL MADRID TO WIN & OVER 2.5 GOALS
