LAS PALMAS PREVIEW: LEARNING LAS PALMAS

Over the summer, Las Palmas lost manager Garcia Pimienta to Sevilla after the former Barcelona youth coach had guided them to promotion back to the top-flight before then comfortably securing top-flight status last season.

The Canary Islanders do this time, though, now still under the management of Luis Carrion, begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting rock-bottom in La Liga after their opening eight matches. They come into this one on the back of a 3-1 defeat to Villarreal in a derby of the Yellow Submarines at El Madrigal in their most recent outing last week. They have collected just three points so far this season.

CELTA VIGO PREVIEW: SILKY CELTA

Following on from the poor tenure under the management of former Liverpool and Real Madrid boss Rafa Benitez, B team coach Claudio Giraldez came in and has majorly improved Celta Vigo as they sit firmly in the middle-of-the-table with an entertaining style of football to go with it.

The Galicians’ eight matches so far this season have consisted of 30 goals with 15 goals scored and 15 goals conceded. The visitors come into this one on the back of a bit of a dodgy run of form but did end a two-match losing streak with a 1-1 draw against Girona at Balaidos thanks to a late equaliser from Iago Aspas.

LAS PALMAS TEAM NEWS: INJURY ISSUES FOR LAS PALMAS

Netherlands international goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen has joined what is now a fairly lengthy injury list full of key first-team players for Las Palmas ahead of this weekend.

As well as Cillessen, defensive duo Mika Marmol and Marvin Park are sidelined whilst former Everton forward Sandro Ramirez is also unavailable for the hosts.

PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): Horkas; Suarez, Herzog, Munoz, Ramirez; Januzaj, Essugo, Rodriguez, Moleiro; McBurnie, Silva

UNAVAILABLE: Cillessen (Injured), Marmol (Injured), Park (Injured), Sandro (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: McKenna (Injured)

CELTA VIGO TEAM NEWS: STILL NO BAMBA

Celta do have a couple of injury issues for this weekend’s trip to the Canary Islands with forward Jonathan Bamba still unavailable, frustratingly for Giraldez.

As well as Bamba, full-back Mihailo Ristic still unavailable with Oscar Mingueza flexible enough to play on either side at wing-back and really aiding their ability to maintain their performance level.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Guaita; Rodriguez Galiano, Dominguez, Alonso; Carreira, Moriba, Rodriguez, Mingueza; Duran, Gonzalez; Iglesias

UNAVAILABLE: Bamba (Injured), Ristic (Injured)

LAS PALMAS VS CELTA VIGO PREDICTION

Las Palmas are rock-bottom but performances have improved. The fact they have so many key first-team players out injured will be a massively hampering thing, though, and will give an exciting and fun Celta side reason to believe they can go and get an away win. The likeliest outcome for this one, though, is a high-scoring affair as Celta naturally play like that and Las Palmas sense a massive opportunity.
