THE LOWDOWN

GRANADA

Following promotion to the top-flight last season under Paco Lopez, Granada have endured an extremely difficult campaign with just two victories in 22 matches so far this season. Uruguayan coach Alexander Medina has helped to improve the Andalusians’ performances but their results have remained really poor as they appear destined for the drop already.

The home team come into this one on the back of a 2-0 loss away to Getafe in their most recent outing on Monday night. Granada have now suffered three successive losses without scoring. They have played quite an open but ineffective style of football throughout the campaign, conceding 44 goals in 22 matches so far this season.

LAS PALMAS

Las Palmas gained automatic promotion alongside Granada last season but they have enjoyed a very different campaign. The Canary Islanders begin this match day sitting tucked inside the top-half of the table and just three points outside of the top seven and the UEFA Europa Conference League qualification spot.

Coached by former Barcelona youth coach Garcia Pimienta, Las Palmas have been extremely impressive with an easy on the eye but controlling tactical approach that can often lead to fairly dull, sterile and low-scoring affairs. They were beaten 2-1 by Real Madrid last weekend at home, despite leading 14-time European champions Los Blancos by a goal to nil.

THE PREDICTION

As mentioned, Granada have been generally underwhelming to watch in attack of late with no goals in their last three defeats. They now face a Las Palmas side that seek to suffocate and dominate their opponents with possession. A low-scoring encounter is to be expected for this one and Las Palmas are the favourites, too.

TIP: LAS PALMAS TO WIN & UNDER 3.5 GOALS
