GIRONA PREVIEW: FINDING FORM

As mentioned, Girona are dealing with the consequences of their success. Those consequences being the departures of several key players for big money such as Aleix Garcia, Savio and Artem Dovbyk as well as having to play more games after qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.

The Catalans finished third last season in their fifth season ever in the top-flight with an extremely entertaining style of football. That style has remained but they have been a little more inconsistent with three victories, three draws and five defeats in La Liga. They did hammer Extremadura in the first round of the Copa del Rey in midweek.

LEGANES PREVIEW: EASY ON THE EYE LEGA

Leganes gained promotion to the top-flight last season with the impressive coaching of Borja Jimenez. The Madrid-based club want to play a progressive and proactive style of football but have struggled for goals in La Liga with only Getafe and Valencia having scored fewer than the nine that they have managed.

Lega come into this one on the back of a 2-1 defeat of Ciudad de Lucena in the first-leg of the Copa del Rey in midweek. That victory means Borja Jimenez’ side have only suffered one defeat in their last seven matches across all competitions since mid-September with that one loss being against Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano a couple of weeks ago.

GIRONA TEAM NEWS: SO MANY ISSUES

Girona are dealing with several injury concerns for this weekend against Leganes with Alejandro Frances, Oriol Romeu, Viktor Tsygankov and Yaser Asprilla all sidelined for the hosts.

As well as those missing due to injury, the Catalans also have a couple of doubts with goalkeeper Pau Lopez and attacker Bryan Gil potentially missing for this one.

PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): Paolo Gazzaniga; Juanpe, David Lopez, Krejci, Miguel Gutierrez; Arnau Martinez, Van de Beek, Yangel Herrera, Danjuma; Miovski, Misehouy

UNAVAILABLE: Ricard Artero (Injured), Alejandro Frances (Injured), Jastin Garcia (Injured), Jhon Solis (Injured), Oriol Romeu (Injured), Tsygankov (Injured), Yaser Asprilla (Injured), Portu (Injured), Abel Ruiz (Injured)

LEGANES TEAM NEWS: NOTHING FRESH

Leganes have a fully fit and available squad for this weekend’s clash with Girona in Catalonia so they will be able to name an unchanged eleven for this one if they so choose.

Naim Garcia remains a doubt for the visitors with their squad dominated by some big names such as defender Matija Nastasic and forward Sebastian Haller.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Dmitrovic; Jorge Saenz, Nastasic, Renato Tapia; Andre Altimira, Cisse, Neyou, Enric Franquesa; Dani Raba, Diego Garcia; Haller

UNAVAILABLE:

QUESTIONABLE: Naim Garcia (Injured)

GIRONA VS LEGANES PREDICTION

Girona come into this one on the back of back-to-back defeats in La Liga as they sit in the bottom-half of the table. Michel did promise that it would be very difficult for them this season and that is proving to be the case. They now face a Leganes side that will get on the front foot in this one and will fancy their chances of at least scoring. Girona are favourites with their home advantage but both teams scoring seems a good bet for this one, too.
