A 2-2 draw away to Osasuna last week continued Barcelona’s run of poor performances and results. Xavi’s appointment in mid-November was always unlikely to be an immediate fix for their many, many issues and the Catalans remain outside of the European spots in the table ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures. They come up against an Elche side that come into this on the back of a 2-1 defeat in the Valencian derby away to Valencia last weekend. The visitors had lost just one of their last five matches in all competitions but they remain firmly in the bottom-half. Despite their poor form, Barca will still expect to win this one.
