Now, still under the management of Michel, the City Football Group Catalans are very much involved in the title race this season, quite astonishingly.

In 2022, these two teams gained promotion from the second-tier but are heading in very different directions. There is a 43-point gap between these two sides that started out as peers just a few months ago, both with the initial expectation to simply survive. Almeria remain winless and, quite frankly, they are now coming up against one of, if not the, best teams in Spain. Girona really should continue their outstanding campaign with a victory down south.
