THE LOWDOWN
ALAVES
After gaining promotion back to the top-flight last season, Alaves were always expected to struggle this season with a reliance on home form at Mendizorrotza in the Basque Country. They began relatively spritely but have since endured some really difficult times as they sit in the bottom-half of the table, just above the bottom three and the relegation places.
The home team come into this on the back of a gut-wrenching 2-1 defeat to defending champions Barcelona before the international break, in a game in which they had led by a goal to nil at half-time. That means their only victory in their last nine La Liga matches has come by a goal to nil against rock-bottom and still winless Almeria.
GRANADA
Under the management of Paco Lopez, last season’s Segunda champions, Granada, were expected to struggle throughout this season and they are languishing down towards the bottom-of-the-table in La Liga’s relegation battle. The Andalusians begin the weekend sitting firmly in the bottom three and the relegation places.
They, playing a progressive and proactive style of football, have managed just one victory in their 13 matches so far this season with a leaky defence letting in 30 goals – only rock-bottom regional rivals Almeria have conceded more. They have managed to score 18, though, with only the current top six having been more prolific.
THE TEAM NEWS

GRANADA
Granada have a few key players missing for the trip to the Basque Country with the most important being that of suspended attacker, Bryan Zaragoza.
PREDICTED XI (4-2-2-2): Ferreira; Manafa, Miquel, Diaz, Neva; Villar, Gumbau; Melendo, Callejon; Uzuni, Boye

THE PREDICTION
This relegation six-pointer features two sides desperate for a victory and two that will eye up the opposition as an excellent opportunity to get that win. Alaves are a bit more reactive and defensive than their opposition but Luis Garcia Plata will be under pressure to get at Granada, who they come up with last year, especially at home. Paco Lopez and Granada will play the way they always do and try to impose themselves upon Alaves so both teams scoring does appear a good bet for this one.
