THE PREDICTION

A very, very, very dull draw away to Eibar on Monday night was not thematic of the season so far for Javi Gracia. They were arguably due a fairly lacklustre game, at both ends, and they got one. An alright result, on paper, has contributed to a season in which Gracia has consistently had Valencia punching above their weight considering the systematic destruction of the club and fire-sale of key players with no replacements in the summer. They come up against an Athletic side who lurched out of a crisis a few weeks ago but have quickly fallen back into a crisis whereby their manager, Gaizka Garitano, is under huge pressure. Both sides have been unpredictable but one side, Valencia, is evidently better coached. The home side haven’t kept a home clean sheet so far this season but Athletic are hardly prolific. An under 2.5 goal bet seems likely, especially considering that is how La Liga play their football now.
