THE PREDICTION
The home side come into this after back-to-back wins for the first time this season. Slender victories, 1-0 and 2-1, at home to Levante and Real Sociedad mean that Champions League qualification becomes a legitimate possibility but Catalan aspirations beyond that remain fanciful. The lack of width and energy combined with consistently poor defensive mistakes makes Barcelona an alright, mid-table team in La Liga; which, without fairly dramatic and sustained improvements, is where they will finish. Valencia, also, cannot be trusted. Both clubs’ in disarray off-the-field and inconsistent on it. Gracia’s Valencia are now winless in four since their 4-1 win over Real Madrid but they’ve only lost one of the four - and that was against league leaders Atletico. In nine of Valencia’s 13 matches this season, they have had both teams score. Barcelona have only kept two clean sheets in their last ten games. Neither team can be trusted to win but both teams to score seems a likely bet.
