PSV PREVIEW: PETER BOSZ’ PSV TO GO AGAIN

Last season, a man known for having major highs and lows and just outright inconsistency, Peter Bosz led PSV Eindhoven to the Eredivisie title in convincing style with PSV not losing their first game of the season until the 27th match of the campaign – the only league loss of the season.

Over the summer, PSV have strengthened with the addition of Ryan Flamingo from Sassuolo, who spent last season on loan at Utrecht, whilst also making loanees Malik Tillman and Sergino Dest now permanent members of their squad.

FEYENOORD PREVIEW: FRESH START FOR FEYENOORD

Unlike PSV, Feyenoord were forced to undergo some changes to their coaching staff this summer with former manager Arne Slot departing the club for Liverpool. He has been replaced by former Midtjylland, Antwerp and Sparta Prague boss Brian Priske.

In the summer transfer window, Feyenoord made three additions with the arrivals of Julian Carranza, Gjis Smal and Anis Hadji Moussa but they have lost the likes of Mats Wieffer, Yankuba Minteh and Alireza Jahanbakhsh.

PSV TEAM NEWS: NO DEST OR LANG

Peter Bosz does have a couple of key issues and both of them are down the right-hand side. Despite signing on a permanent basis, Sergino Dest will not be involved after picking up an injury.

Former Club Brugge winger Noa Lang is also unavailable and will be unavailable for some time with January the expected return date of the Netherlands international. Ryan Flamingo could make his PSV full debut.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Benitez; Teze, Flamingo, Boscagli, Mauro Junior; Schouten, Saibari; Bakayoko, Tillman, Hirving Lozano; De Jong

UNAVAILABLE: Dest (Injured), Lang (Injured)

FEYENOORD TEAM NEWS: A FEW ISSUES

Brian Priske has to deal with a few issues has he looks to make his mark on the Rotterdam-based club. For example, club captain Gernot Trauner may miss this one with what appears to be a minor ankle issue.

As well as Trauner’s potential absence, both Quinten Timber and Gijs Smal are also doubtful for the Super Cup, whilst key defender Quilindschy Hartman is expected to be unavailable for a while.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Biljow; Geertruida, Tsoungui, Hancko; Nieuwkoop, Milambo, Zechiel, Pedersen; Lingr, Ivanusec; Ueda

UNAVAILABLE: Hartman (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Trauner (Injured), Smal (Injured), Timber (Injured)

PSV VS FEYENOORD PREDICTION

This one is really intriguing because, as ever, punters and pundits are desperate to read into something so much to see it as a portents for the season to come but that very really is the case for games such as these. That said, we can make a fairly confident prediction that PSV will win this and potentially comfortably with their home advantage, more settled squad, outstanding 2023/24 season and the fact that Brian Priske has to rebuild his Feyenoord side.
