Following promotion last season, Rio Ave have struggled in the 2022/23 Primeira Liga campaign. The home team have won just two of their opening nine matches as they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting firmly in the bottom-half of the table. They now face a Portimonense side that come into this on the back of three defeats in their last four matches as they drift down towards the middle-of-the-table after what had been a very strong start. As ever with Portuguese football, under 2.5 goals seems likely for this one.
