THE LOWDOWN
PORTIMONENSE
In the second-half of last season, Portimonense collapsed in their performances and results, eventually narrowly avoiding finishing in the bottom three after having been dead set in the middle-of-the-table. They won just five of their final 27 matches of the season and, under the management of Paulo Sergio, will be expecting to battle against the drop throughout this campaign.
They started the season with two horrendous performances and results, indicative of a team who were in free fall last year and that may not have ended. Firstly they lost 5-0 away to Gil Vicente before then being beaten by four goals to one at home to Boavista. They did recover last weekend to share a 1-1 draw against Arouca.
ESTRELA DA AMADORA
The story of Estrela da Amadora is a fun one. Following the merger of two clubs, Clube Desportivo Estrela and Club Sintra Football, in 2020, Estrela da Amadora was established. They gained two promotions in three seasons with current manager Sergio Vieira overseeing their ascension from the second-tier into the Primeira Liga for the first time in their history.
Whilst they will naturally remain favourites to be relegated immediately, Estrela have shown promising signs at the start of this season. They were edged out by a goal to nil against Vitoria on the opening day, albeit went down to ten men inside 20 minutes. They went to reigning champions Benfica and lost 2-0 but put up a valiant display with both goals coming late on. Then, last weekend, they pulled off the surprise 2-1 defeat of Estoril.
THE TEAM NEWS
PORTIMONENSE
It had been a horrible start to the season but given the arrested that slide with a draw last weekend and have a fully fit and available squad for this weekend, Portimonense are likely to remain unchanged.

ESTRELA DA AMADORA
Estrela da Amadora remain without Joao Reis but, given that they won their first ever Primeira Liga match last weekend, they should remain unchanged for this one.

THE PREDICTION
Prior to the season both of these sides were tipped up to be down towards the bottom end of the table and fighting against relegation. They then both began with back-to-back defeats but in very different ways. Portimonense were blown away twice whilst Estrela will have felt hard done by to lose both of their matches. The third game reflected their different current levels, too, with Portimonense drawing and Estrela eventually winning. Despite the slight difference in the two sides, the best value bet for this one is to back a low-scoring match.
