THE PREDICTION

The Dragoes vs Leoes rivalry is a major match in Portugal. Two of Os Tres Grandes and the last two winners of the Primeira Liga. Sergio Conceicao’s Porto have, as they usually do, sold this summer but come into this on the back of three impressive games so far. They won the Supertaca Candido de Oliveira against Tondela by three goals to nil before a 5-1 hammering of Maritimo and then a 1-0 defeat of Vizela last weekend. They now face a Sporting CP side that come into this on the back of a 3-0 thrashing of Rio Ave last weekend, after a 3-3 draw against Braga on the opening day of the season. Ruben Amorim’s side will have over-achieved if they regain their title but they are playing a fun and proactive style of play, despite the impending loss of Matheus Nunes to Wolverhampton Wanderers. Porto will be expected to win a very intriguing clash.
