TOLUCA

  • Toluca had to come from behind in their previous Liga MX match as they settled for a 1-1 draw at Tijuana thanks to a late goal from Michael Estrada. With that draw, they are now on a four-game winless run (D3, L1) and currently sit in ninth place of the standings with six points (W1, D3, L1).
  • Toluca should be close to full strength entering this match with their lone absentee centre-back Fernando Tobio who is yet to play this season due to injury. Alan Medina has been listed as questionable due to an undisclosed injury, while Rodrigo Salinas could return to his starting right-back role after seeing last week’s game off the bench.

  • Nicolas Freire has already returned to training but he’s not ready to play, while Carlos Gonzalez is dealing with an injury and should be listed as questionable ahead of this contest. There is also a doubt regarding the start of Juan Pablo Vigon or youngster Marco Garcia in midfield.

Toluca have been extremely inconsistent over the last few weeks, while Pumas UNAM have been one of the best teams in the Clausura so far and their strength lies on an improved attacking unit that already averages 2.4 goals per game. Their 12 goals rank second in the league only behind Leon’s 13. Toluca have gone four straight matches without a win and, despite the fact that they’ll be at home here, Pumas are favoured and should cruise towards clinching three more points.
