THE TEAM NEWS
SANTOS LAGUNA
- Santos Laguna are coming off a 1-0 loss against Pachuca, and that result ended a two-game winning streak. The home side has been slightly inconsistent over the last few weeks, posting three wins and two losses over their last five contests.
- Santos Laguna will be without Brazilian centre-back Doria, who is dealing with a broken nose and won’t be available until late March at the earliest. The rest of the squad, however, will be fit and available.
Expected starting XI: Jonathan Orozco; Jose Van Rankin, Hugo Rodriguez, Felix Torres, Gerardo Arteaga; Fernando Gorriaran, Ulises Rivas, Carlos Orrantia; Eduardo Aguirre, Julio Furch, Brian Lozano
NECAXA
- Necaxa have been struggling in recent weeks and are coming off a 2-1 home defeat against Monarcas Morelia. Their recent form has been very negative, however, as they have lost four in their last five league matches.
- Necaxa should be relatively healthy ahead of this contest. The lone absentee will be Carlos Guzman, as the veteran defender is rehabbing from a broken leg and will be out for the foreseeable future.
Expected starting XI: Hugo Gonzalez; Ricardo Chavez, Jose Doldan, Jairo Gonzalez, Julio Cesar Gonzalez; Claudio Baeza, Jair Cortes; Daniel Alvarez, Maximiliano Salas, Juan Delgado; Mauro Quiroga
THE PREDICTION
Both Necaxa and Santos Laguna have been playing poorly over the past few weeks, but Santos have been slightly better and also have the edge of playing at home. Necaxa have won the last two H2H meetings against Los Guerreros, but that should change here. Santos Laguna will extend Necaxa’s woes with a home win here.
