THE TEAM NEWS

LEON

  • Leon have been extremely inconsistent over the last few weeks, trading wins and losses during their last five matches, although they are coming off a 4-1 win at Juarez. They have been the best team in the league this season, with four wins in an equal number of matches.
  • Andres Mosquera continues to rehab from a long-term injury and, based on recent reports, he is still a few months away from complete recovery. Leonardo Javier Ramos is sidelined as well as he’s dealing with a groin injury.

Expected starting XI: Rodolfo Cota; Fernando Navarro, Juan Ignacio Gonzalez, Jaine Barreiro, William Tesillo; Yairo Moreno, Pedro Aquino, Luis Montes; Angel Mena; Jean Meneses, Armando Leon

PUMAS UNAM

  • Pumas UNAM started the season on fire but they have not been able to maintain that kind of form over the past few weeks. They are coming off a 3-3 draw against Club America and that result pushed their winless streak to three games (D1, L2).
  • Marco Garcia has been listed as questionable after picking up a knock the last time out. Luis Quintana missed last week’s match due to a suspension but he’s expected to be eligible to return here.

Expected starting XI: Alfredo Saldivar; Alan Mozo Rodriguez, Johan Vasquez, Nicolas Freire, Manuel Mayorga; Juan Pablo Vigon, Andres Iniestra, Victor Malcorra; Pablo Barrera; Juan Ignacio Dinenno, Carlos Gonzalez

THE PREDICTION

Pumas have clinched just one point over their last nine available in the Clausura and, to make things even more complicated, they have won just one game on the road during the current term. Leon, on the other hand, have won their first four league matches at home and they are a legit threat to move towards the top of the standings if they win here and other results go their way. The hosts have won a joint league-high six matches already and, based on their home form, they should be the winners here.
