CLUB AMERICA
- Club America currently sit in third place of the Liga MX standings with 15 points after eight matches (W4, D3, L1), but their recent form has been lacking. They are W2, D2, L1 in their last five league matches, but are on a three-game winless run.
- At home, Las Aguilas have not lost during the current Apertura run (W3, D1), although they drew their previous home outing against Pachuca (1-1). America also own the league’s joint second-best defence after conceding just eight goals thus far.
- Nicolas Castillo is America’s lone absentee since the Chile international continues to recover from a broken leg suffered earlier this year.
PUMAS UNAM
- Pumas UNAM sit in ninth place so far and they are out of a playoff solely due to their goal differential, and they have posted a W2, L3 mark in their last five league matches.
- On the road, Los Felinos have struggled badly – they have posted a W1, L3 mark while suffering those defeats in each of the past three defeats. They have not been able to score a single goal in any of those outings, either.

This is one of the biggest derbies in Mexico, but this time there is a clearer favourite since Club America have enjoyed a much better season to Pumas UNAM. A match like this will provide plenty of fireworks, and tempers might flare, but the fact that Las Aguilas are at home should also boost their “favourite” tag ahead of this thrilling matchup.
