THE LOWDOWN

UDINESE

It has been a bizarre campaign for Udinese this season with a record of just two victories in their 20 matches so far this season but 12 draws in those 20 games means they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just outside of the bottom three and the relegation places as they continue to improve.

Former Crawley Town boss Gabriele Cioffi replaced Andrea Sottil a couple of months ago and performances have almost immediately improved with results remaining inconsistent as they continue to struggle to get over the line for victory. They do come into this one on the back of a valiant 2-2 draw against Fiorentina but they will be frustrating having led twice in that match.

AC MILAN

Under the management of Stefano Pioli, AC Milan are trying to stay in touch with the top two, Internazionale and Juventus, at the top end of the Serie A table but the Rossoneri are having to maintain an extremely impressive run of form to even consider staying in touch and that good form continued with their most recent outing, last weekend.

Milan comfortably defeated Roma by three goals to one on Sunday evening, which eventually led to Jose Mourinho’s sacking on Tuesday. That means they have now enjoyed three successive victories in Serie A and they have suffered just one loss in their last nine games in the league as they try and recover from a slow start.

THE TEAM NEWS

UDINESE

Udinese remain without the injured Enzo Ebosse and Gerard Deulofeu, whilst the likes of Vivaldo and Jaka Bijol are both doubtful for the visit of Milan.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-1-1): Okoye; Ferreira, Perez, Kristensen; Ebosele, Lovric, Walace, Samardzic, Kamara; Pereyra; Lucca

UNAVAILABLE: Ebosse (Injured), Deulofeu (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Bijol (Injured), Vivaldo (Injured)

AC MILAN

Fikayo Tomori remains a key injury issue for AC Milan, whilst the likes of Samu Chukwueze and Ismael Bennacer both away at the Africa Cup of Nations.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Maignan; Calabria, Kjaer, Gabbia, Hernandez; Loftus-Cheek, Adli, Reijnders; Pulisic, Giroud, Leao

UNAVAILABLE: Chukwueze (International duty), Bennacer (International duty), Tomori (Injured), Pobega (Injured), Kalulu (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Florenzi (Injured), Thiaw (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Udinese have managed just two wins all season long but, quite remarkably, one of those victories came at San Siro in early November as a Roberto Pereyra penalty mid-way through the second-half defeated a then terribly out of form AC Milan. The Friulians have continued to be difficult to beat in Serie A and, despite AC Milan’s improvement, Udinese will be confident of at least bloodying the nose of the seven-time European champions. An away win remains likely but it could well be an intriguing encounter on Saturday evening.

TIP: AC MILAN TO WIN & BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
