TORINO PREVIEW: TERRIFIC TORINO

Ivan Juric did a good job in front of Torino and managed to get them in the top-half of Serie A last year despite scoring fewer than a goal per game. The task for Paolo Vanoli, who got Venezia promoted last season, is to make them more clinical and effective in the attacking third as well as maintaining a challenge for UEFA competition qualification.

The Piedmont-based outfit have started the campaign two victories and a draw – with that draw coming at San Siro on the opening day of the season against AC Milan when they did lead 2-0 heading into the 89th minute. Since then they have managed victories against Atalanta and then away at the aforementioned Venezia.

LECCE PREVIEW: TOUGH LIFE FOR LECCE

After sacking Roberto D’Aversa, now at Empoli, in March, Lecce managed to pull themselves away from the bottom three and the relegation places under the management of Luca Gotti. Gotti has remained in charge for this season with the Apulia-based club once again simply seeking survival in Serie A this season.

That plan did not start well as they were hammered 4-0 on the opening day of the season by Atalanta before then being a bit more stubborn but still losing 2-0 against defending champions Inter. A couple of weeks ago, though, they did manage to squeeze past Cagliari by a goal to nil after going down to ten men just before half-time.

TORINO TEAM NEWS: THE IMPORTANCE OF CHE ADAMS

Che Adams has had a good start to life in Italy after joining Torino on a free transfer from Southampton and he withdraw from Scotland duty but is fit to go this weekend.

Long-term absentee Perr Schuurs remains sidelined alongside Gvidas Gineitis with Nikola Vlasic, who missed UEFA EURO 2024 as a result of injury, is nearing a return.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Milinkovic-Savic; Tameze, Walukiewicz, Masina; Vojvoda, Ricci, Linetty, Ilic, Lazaro; Adams, Duvan Zapata

UNAVAILABLE: Schuurs (Injured), Gineitis (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Vlasic (Injured)

LECCE TEAM NEWS: NO DORGU

As mentioned, Lecce went down to ten against Cagliari and the man that got red carded, Patrick Dorgu, who scored for Denmark recently, is suspended for this weekend.

As well as Dorgu, Gotti still has to deal without key midfielder Mohamed Kaba, who remains sidelined for Lecce as a result of an ACL injury sustained over the summer.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Falcone; Guilbert, Gaspar, Baschirotto, Gallo; Ramadani, Pierret; Rebic, Oudin, Banda; Krstovic

UNAVAILABLE: Dorgu (Suspended), Kaba (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

TORINO VS LECCE PREDICTION

As a disciple of Antonio Conte, Paolo Vanoli will no doubt believe that winning by any means is the only thing that matters but, just like Conte, when the side is in a good grove and following the ‘automatisms’ in their attacking play then they can be fun to watch. Lecce will sit back and look to pinch the game by frustrating Torino but the likelihood is, especially with home advantage, we see a third Torino victory of the Serie A season.
