ROMA PREVIEW: ROMAN RUINS

Coached by Jose Mourinho, Roma were a team that very rarely sat in the top four let alone looked like finishing there. Daniele De Rossi immediately improved things but things have been declining since the end of last season and now it is the job of Ivan Juric to get things moving in the right direction and unifying the club.

The Romans come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw with Athletic Club in the opening game of their UEFA Europa League campaign in midweek with Artem Dovbyk getting his first Roma goal. That followed Juric’s first match in charge last weekend when they hammered then top-of-the-table Udinese by three goals to nil.

VENEZIA PREVIEW: THE VITALITY OF VENEZIA

Following promotion last season, Venezia lost their manager, Paolo Vanoli, to Torino and he was replaced by former Roma and Sassuolo boss Eusebio Di Francesco. With an entertaining and aggressive, fluent style of football that can often be naïve, he was relegated with Frosinone last season.

The Venetians look like they may suffer a similar fate this time around but they do come into this one on the back of a much-needed victory against Genoa last weekend thanks to goals from Gio Busio and Joel Pohjanpalo. That win had followed Venezia collecting just one point from their opening four matches.

ROMA TEAM NEWS: NO SAELEMAEKERS

AC Milan loanee Alexis Saelemaekers is out injured for Roma this weekend with both Zeki Celik and Enzo Le Fee both doubts as they face Venezia at the Olimpico.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-1-1): Svilar; Mancini, Ndicka, Tasende; Celik, Cristante, Pisilli, Pellegrini, El Shaarawy; Dybala; Dovbyk

UNAVAILABLE: Saelemaekers (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Celik (Injured), Le Fee (Injured)

VENEZIA TEAM NEWS: NO NEED TO CHANGE

Giorgio Altare remains out injured with both Alfred Duncan and Bjarkar Bjarkarson doubtful but there is no reason for Di Francesco to change a winning team this weekend.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Joronen; Candela, Svoboda, Idzes; Zampano, Ellertsson, Anderson, Busio, Haps; Oristanio, Pohjanpalo

UNAVAILABLE: Altare (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Duncan (Injured), Bjarkason (Injured)

ROMA VS VENEZIA PREDICTION

Ivan Juric is known for his dominant and well controlled, possession-based style of football that means they will be expected to control games of football. Roma have the players and an attack that consists of Paulo Dybala and Artem Dovbyk should be very effective. They face a Venezia side that have underwhelmed throughout the campaign up until their much-needed win last week. Even with that, it would be a major surprise to not see Roma win and potentially win quite comfortably.
