THE LOWDOWN
ROMA
Jose Mourinho’s third season in charge of a club tends to be a bit of a let down or even an implosion but that has not been the case for Roma so far this season with the capital city club beginning quite slowly but quickly recovering to mount a serious challenge for a top four finish, breaking into the top four last weekend.
The home team come into this one on the back of a come from behind 2-1 win away to ten-man Sassuolo in their most recent outing, last weekend. That means that Roma have now managed a four-match unbeaten run of form with just one loss in their last eight matches in Serie A as they sit above defending champions Napoli ahead of this weekend.
FIORENTINA
Under the management of Vincenzo Italiano, Fiorentina have had a bit of a bizarre campaign. Expecting to challenge for the top four, I Viola should be out of contention after failing to win half of their 14 matches so far this season but they begin this weekend sitting just a point outside of fourth spot, currently occupied by their upcoming opponents.
They recently suffered from a run of three defeats in four matches but there has been some improvement since the November international break. They come into this one on the back of a penalty shootout victory over Parma in their most recent outing in the Round of 16 of the Coppa Italia in midweek.

THE PREDICTION
Roma are grinding out wins and none more so than last weekend. After Jose Mourinho made some typically controversial pre-match comments, the Romans came from behind to continue their push into the top four and attempt to return to the UEFA Champions League. They now face a Fiorentina side that have been unconvincing of late with several Serie A defeats harming their hopes of a top four finish. With their home advantage especially, Roma are the firm favourites for this one.
