PARMA PREVIEW: EASY ON THE EYE PARMA

Following promotion last season, Parma boss Fabio Pecchia was the subject of some major interest from Serie A clubs but Pecchia decided to stay with the club as they try and restore themselves as a top-flight mainstay playing a progressive and generally quite entertaining style of football.

They began the campaign with impressive performances as they collected four points from games against Fiorentina and AC Milan at the Ennio Tardini. However, they are now winless in their last six matches as they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just outside of the bottom three and the relegation places.

EMPOLI PREVIEW: DIFFICULT TO BEAT EMPOLI

Last season, Empoli eventually steered themselves away from the danger zone with the late season appointment of Serie A’s miracle worker Davide Nicola, following the sackings of Paolo Zanetti and Aurelio Andreazzoli. The Florence-based club begin the weekend’s round of fixtures sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table after a positive start to the season.

They have started the season with two victories, four draws and two defeats in their opening eight matches. Those two defeats have been their last two matches either side of the October international break with their most recent outing being a 1-0 defeat at home to league leading Napoli last weekend.

PARMA TEAM NEWS: INJURIES FOR PARMA

The home team have a few injury issues for this weekend’s clash with Empoli at the Ennio Tardini as both Yordan Osorio and Alessandro Circati are unavailable.

As well as those two injury absentees, defender Mateusz Kowalski is sidelined for the hosts with attacker Adrian Benedyczak doubtful for the weekend.

PREDICTED XI (4-1-4-1): Suzuki; Hainaut, Del Prato, Balogh, Valeri; Adrian Bernabe; Almqvist, Sohm, Hernani, Cancellieri; Bonny

UNAVAILABLE: Yordan Osorio (Injured), Circati (Injured), Kowalski (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Benedyczak (Injured)

EMPOLI TEAM NEWS: COUPLE OF ISSUES

There are a couple of injury issues for Empoli to be dealing with ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures as both Saba Sazonov and Tyronne Ebuehi remain unavailable.

Samuele Perisan is also a major doubt for this weekend but there are no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues so they will be able to name an unchanged eleven for this one.

PREDICTED XI (3-1-4-2): Devis Vasquez; Goglichidze, Ismajli, Viti; Grassi; Gyasi, Anjorin, Fazzini, Pezzella; Colombo, Esposito

UNAVAILABLE: Sazonov (Injured), Ebuehi (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Perisan (Injured)

PARMA VS EMPOLI PREDICTION

Parma will get on the front foot at the Ennio Tardini and look to recreate the form and performances that they showed in the opening couple of weeks of the campaign before badly fading. They face an Empoli side that have been very impressive at home so far this season but have struggled for consistency and potency on the road. It would seem like a good value bet to side with the home team in this one.
