SASSUOLO

Ahead of the 2022/23 Serie A campaign, Sassuolo pinched newly-promoted Empoli’s exciting young manager, Alessio Dionisi. Sassuolo finished firmly in mid-table and Empoli comfortably survived but Dionisi’s impact at Sassuolo was not instant and, although they have continued and persisted with him over the summer, the pressure will surely grow if they don’t kick on and push towards the top seven or at least the top-half this season.

They come into this on the back of an opening day encounter with Atalanta in which they were comfortably beaten by a Gian Piero Gasperini side seeking to play a similar style of football. Whilst both of Atalanta’s goals, scored by debutant Charles De Ketelaere and Nicola Zortea, came late on, they were the deserved winners of that game.

THE TEAM NEWS

NAPOLI

Rudi Garcia has a fully fit and available squad for this encounter with no injuries or suspensions and they should remain unchanged from their hammering of Frosinone last weekend.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Meret; Di Lorenzo, Rrahmani, Juan, Olivera; Cajuste, Lobotka, Zielinski; Politano, Osimhen, Raspadori

UNAVAILABLE:

SASSUOLO

Agustin Alvarez remains injured as Sassuolo look unlikely to make many changes, despite their 2-0 defeat at home to Atalanta on the opening day of the campaign.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Consigli; Toljan, Erlic, Viti, Vina; Henrique, Lopez; Defrel, Bajrami, Lauriente; Pinamonti

UNAVAILABLE: Alvarez (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Whilst Napoli are without certain key players from last season, such as Kim Min-jae and their coach Luciano Spalletti, and whilst Garcia doesn’t necessarily automatically make one think they will be defending their title, the Neapolitans did begin the season in impressive fashion away to newly-promoted Frosinone because, quite frankly, they have the best player in the league in Victor Osimhen. They now face a Sassuolo side that have continually underperformed expectation under Alessio Dionisi and Napoli, especially at the San Paolo, are the firm favourites for this one.

TIP: NAPOLI TO WIN
