THE LOWDOWN

MONZA

Monza are an extremely ambitious side with their ownership looking to push on into the top seven and the European spots in Serie A, following promotion to the top-flight for the first time ever in 2022. They do come into this one on the back of a much-needed victory against Frosinone in their most recent outing, last weekend.

Monza were 3-0 up in that game but could only hold on to a 3-2 victory against ten-man opposition. That victory had followed on from a run of just one win in their previous seven matches as they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table with six wins, seven draws and six defeats so far this season.

INTER MILAN

Under the management of former Lazio boss, Simone Inzaghi, Internazionale will be a little irritated to only have a two-point lead at the top-of-the-table at the half-way stage, after putting together a very impressive 19 matches so far. They have suffered just one defeat this season but a relentless Juventus side remain on their case at the top.

Inter have scored nine goals more than any other team in Serie A and three fewer than anyone else as the only team yet to concede double figures. They come into this one on the back of a hard-fought 2-1 defeat of a struggling Hellas Verona side last weekend with Davide Frattesi scoring a second-half stoppage-time winner.

INTER MILAN

THE PREDICTION

The home team, as mentioned, are an ambitious side and would have started this season with the dream goal being UEFA Europa Conference League qualification. Monza are just five points off the top seven but they have been generally underwhelming and unconvincing of late. They now face an Inter side that are not necessarily at their absolute best but the Nerazzurri will remain firm favourites to get over the line as they try and see off the Juve challenge.

TIP: INTER TO WIN
