THE LOWDOWN
MONZA
Monza, despite off-field issues in recent months, remain an ambitious club as they try and challenge for a top seven finish and European qualifying spots. They begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just in the bottom-half with an underwhelming run of form and a lack of goals being the key issue there.
They thought they had stolen a point at home to Juventus last month with a second-half stoppage-time equaliser from Valentin Carboni but they eventually lost the game by two goals to one with Federico Gatti scoring a 94th minute winner. Monza have now managed just one win in their last six matches in Serie A.
GENOA
Following promotion last season, Genoa have underperformed a bit in the opening couple of months of this season with four victories in their 14 matches so far this season. Under the management of Alberto Gilardino, Genoa spent a fair bit over the summer transfer window and would have preferred to play a more progressive style of football.
The visitors come into this one on the back of a 1-0 defeat away to Lazio in their most recent outing, during the week, in the Round of 16 of Coppa Italia with a fifth minute winner from Matteo Guendouzi. Genoa have now managed just one win in their last five matches across all competitions as they sit five points above the bottom three and the relegation places with just 15 goals scored.

THE PREDICTION
Both of these teams enjoyed impressive and ambitious summer transfer windows a few months ago. Monza, though, have now managed just one victory in their last six matches after their dramatic 2-1 defeat at home to Juventus last weekend. They now face a Genoa side that have been inconsistent and a little underwhelming throughout the campaign but these are two generally proactive teams so both teams scoring would appear quite likely for this one on Sunday afternoon.
