THE LOWDOWN

MONZA

Monza are an ambitious side that are aiming to push towards the top-half of the table and potentially even the European spots, having only ever gained promotion to the top-flight for the first time ever in 2022. They come into this one on the back of back-to-back goalless draws against struggling duo Udinese and Hellas Verona.

That means that since they suffered a 3-0 defeat to a revitalised and improving Empoli side in mid-January, Monza have now kept three successive clean sheets. They have been a low-scoring team throughout the campaign, having managed just 21 goals so far this season with only the aforementioned Empoli as well as Salernitana having scored fewer than them.

AC MILAN

Under the management of Stefano Pioli, AC Milan continued their fine run of recent form with an impressive 3-0 hammering of Stade Rennais in their most recent outing in midweek in the first-leg of their UEFA Europa League knockout playoff tie. In-form Ruben Loftus-Cheek notched a brace in that game before Rafael Leao wrapped up the win with a 52nd minute strike.

The Rossoneri had previously enjoyed a 1-0 defeat of defending Italian champions Napoli at San Siro last weekend. Those results mean that Milan are now in the middle of a winning streak that has been extended to three matches and they are unbeaten in their last six across all competitions with just one loss in 13.

THE PREDICTION

This one is something of a derby but locality and region is pretty much where the similarities stop between Monza and AC Milan. Monza, coached by Raffaelle Palladino, are an ambitious club but they play a fairly low-scoring style of football. AC Milan, on the other hand, are free scoring at the moment with their 24 matches consisting of 74 goals so far this season. An entertaining away win is expected in this one.

TIP: MILAN TO WIN
