After finishing as runners’ up last season, Lazio began the 2023/24 campaign under a bit of a cloud with major pressure on the unhappy Maurizio Sarri. The former Chelsea and Juventus boss is still under a lot of pressure with the Roman club sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures.
They come into this one on the back of a much-needed 2-0 defeat of Empoli in their most recent outing, last weekend, with goals from Matteo Guendouzi and Mattia Zaccagni. The hosts have suffered just one defeat in their last four matches but have remained underwhelming with their performances, despite the minor improvement in form.
FROSINONE
Lazio’s capital city rivals, Frosinone, have had a relatively impressive return to life back in Italy’s top-flight this season but do begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting in the bottom-half of the table. Frosinone have collected just one point from their last four matches as their form has taken a bit of a nosedive.
Under the management of Eusebio Di Francesco, the visitors come into this one on the back of a 2-1 defeat at home to Juventus in their most recent outing, last weekend. However, that came after they had gone to defending Serie A champions Napoli and won by four goals to nil in the Round of 16 of the Coppa Italia.

Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio simply cannot be trusted at the moment. The Romans may have shown some signs of steadying the ship and gradually improving of late but they remain a team that does not convince. They are hosting a Frosinone side that play progressive football and will go to the Stadio Olimpico confident of at least bloodying the nose of their opposition. Both teams scoring would appear a good value bet for this one on Friday evening.
