In recent seasons, Lazio have been adapting and often thriving under the style of football implemented by former Chelsea manager, Maurizio Sarri. However, a tumultuous summer that included the sale of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to Al Hilal means that they entered the season with a bit of a mini crisis on their hands.
The capital city club suffered another fairly humiliating loss as they comfortably defeated by three goals to one by Feyenoord at De Kuip in the group stages of the UEFA Champions League. They have managed just five wins in 12 matches across all competitions as they sit firmly in the middle-of-the-table.
FIORENTINA
After reaching the final but being the eventual runners’ up of the Coppa Italia and the UEFA Europa Conference League last season, it would have taken a lot for Fiorentina to improve this time around. I Viola lost players such as Igor Julio and Sofyan Amrabat but kept most of the rest of their squad intact as they aimed for a top four finish.
They suffered a very surprising 2-0 loss at home to Empoli in Serie A, last weekend, before hammering Serbian side, Cukaricki, by six goals to nil in the group stages of the UEFA Europa Conference League in midweek. They have won five out of nine league games as they begin the weekend sitting outside of the top four.

This one is always a fairly entertaining encounter between two of Italy’s big sides but both sides will be a little uncertain as they begin at Stadio Olimpico. Lazio for the obvious reasons as they languish in mid-table after an extremely slow start and odd behaviour from their coach. Fiorentina for less obvious reasons but there will be a desire to put right that surprising defeat to an admittedly improving Empoli side last weekend. Given the seasons of these two so far, a double chance bet in favour of the away team would appear good value.
