THE LOWDOWN

JUVENTUS

In his second stint in charge, Juventus have been as defensive and resolutely pragmatic but effective as ever under the management of Massimiliano Allegri. The Bianconeri were beaten by a goal to nil in the Derby d’Italia at San Siro against Inter last weekend, meaning they are now four points behind the Nerazzurri at the top having played a game more.

In contrast to Inter having managed 51 goals in 22 games so far this season, Juventus have managed to score just 36 times in their 22 games. Their loss in Milan last weekend was amplified by the fact they were held to a one all draw with Empoli in Turin in late January when Tomasso Baldanzi, now of Roma, equalised late on in that match.

UDINESE

Udinese’s record has been frankly bizarre so far this season with the Friulians beginning this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just outside of the bottom three and the relegation places, despite having managed just two victories in their 23 matches so far this season. They have suffered just eight defeats, though, with 13 draws.

Former Crawley Town manager Gabriele Cioffi replaced Andrea Sottil earlier this season but, generally, performances and results have remained fairly similar. They come into this one on the back of a goalless draw with Monza in their most recent outing last weekend, meaning they have now averaged exactly a goal per game throughout this season.

THE PREDICTION

Juventus have an unofficial club motto that ‘winning isn’t everything, it is the only thing’ and this version of Juve certainly subscribe to that mantra with Massimiliano Allegri. They host an Udinese side that have made themselves extremely difficult to beat playing a 3-5-1-1 system and, quite frankly, this one is expected to be a tough watch for the neutral. Juve should come out on top in what will likely be a low-scoring affair.

TIP: JUVENTUS TO WIN & UNDER 3.5 GOALS
