THE LOWDOWN
JUVENTUS
Massimiliano Allegri’s second spell at Juventus can be summed up with ‘it never rains but pours’. The Old Lady have this week had to deal with Paul Pogba being suspended for testing positive for added testosterone, just a couple of weeks after the summer transfer window closed. Juve finished seventh last season due to a points deduction but were disqualified from European football anyway.
The home team began the season in very impressive form as they hammered Udinese by three goals to nil, getting three goals by half-time before, in classic Allegri style, needlessly taking their foot off the throat. They then shared a frustrating 1-1 draw at home to Bologna in Turin before defeating bottom-of-the-table by two goals to nil in Florence.
LAZIO
Maurizio Sarri spent the summer complaining about a lack of transfer activity and the quality of the transfer activity at Stadio Olimpico. They lost their key midfielder, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, despite finishing in the top four and, as a consequence, confirming a return to the group stages of this season’s UEFA Champions League.
The visitors made a shocking start to the campaign with back-to-back defeats against sides that are expected to struggle against relegation. Firstly they were beaten by two goals to one against Lecce before a 1-0 loss at home to newly-promoted Genoa. They then, though, surprised everyone by pulling off a 2-1 win in Naples against reigning champions Napoli before the international break.

THE PREDICTION
On a day in which the Derby della Madonnina will take centre stage, Juventus and Lazio are also in action on a very watchable day of Italian football. Juventus will have to make a key change in attack with Federico Chiesa now out for this match. Lazio surprised many with their win in Naples but that can be also put down to the fact that Napoli are experiencing a transitional period with some concerns over Rudi Garcia. Juve are favourites for this one, especially at the J Stadium.
TIP: JUVENTUS TO WIN
