INTER MILAN PREVIEW: NOT QUITE THE INTRICATE INTER OF LAST YEAR

Simone Inzaghi has cultivated an Inter side that have been genuinely magnificent in the last couple of years, backing up their UEFA Champions League final appearance in 2023 by cruising to the Serie A title last season with an excellent campaign in which they stormed to their 20th Scudetto and second star upon their badge.

However, this season the Nerazzurri have found it a little less fluent and controlling having already dropped points in three of their opening six matches. They did manage to defeat Udinese by three goals to two last weekend before hammering Crvena Zvezda by four goals to nil in midweek in the UEFA Champions League.

TORINO PREVIEW: TERRIFIC TORINO

Last season, Torino managed to finish ninth in Serie A despite scoring just 36 goals in their 38 league games. The Piedmont-based club were impressive throughout the campaign and controlled most matches but needed to become a little more effective in attack so have swapped manager Ivan Juric for Paolo Vanoli.

Vanoli, a disciple of Antonio Conte, is keen on efficiency at both ends of the pitch as shown by his Venezia side winning promotion from Serie B in that manner last season. Torino have already shown themselves to be very difficult to beat with just one loss in their opening six matches of this campaign.

INTER MILAN TEAM NEWS: STILL NO BARELLA

Italy international midfielder Nicolo Barella is the star name alongside a couple of really key players for Inter but he remains unavailable at the moment due to injury.

Canada international and former Club Brugge man Tajon Buchanan also remains unavailable after a fracture in his leg at the 2024 CONMEBOL Copa America this summer.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Sommer; Bisseck, Acerbi, Bastoni; Darmian, Frattesi, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Thuram, Martinez

UNAVAILABLE: Barella (Injured), Buchanan (Injured)

TORINO TEAM NEWS: SCHUURS CLOSE TO RETURN

There are no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues for Torino to concern themselves with this weekend so they could name an unchanged eleven for their visit to Milan.

Netherlands international defender Perr Schuurs, who is still a hugely exciting prospect, has been out injured for the last 18 months or so but is expected to return very soon.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Paleari; Vojvoda, Coco, Masina; Lazaro, Ricci, Tameze, Ilic, Sosa; Sanabria, Zapata

UNAVAILABLE:

QUESTIONABLE: Schuurs (Injured)

INTER MILAN VS TORINO PREDICTION

Inter remain the team to beat in Italy despite their relatively average start to this season and they will fancy their chances of making a mark on this one once again. Back-to-back wins since the Derby della Madonnina defeat to AC Milan should have reinvigorated them. Torino have been to San Siro to face Milan and did lead 2-0 until the 89th minute before collapsing to a draw but any sort of performance and result like that is very unlikely.
