THE LOWDOWN
INTER MILAN
Internazionale won the Serie A title in 2021 but have since not really challenged either city rivals AC Milan or Napoli. Simone Inzaghi has proven his qualities in cup competitions, winning the Coppa Italia and also reaching the UEFA Champions League semi-finals last season, but they will be expected to challenge for the league title again.
They have started in excellent form in Serie A with six victories and a defeat in their opening seven matches. They edged past Benfica by a goal to nil in the group stages of the UEFA Champions League in midweek, which followed on from their 4-0 thrashing of struggling Salernitana in their most recent league outing, last weekend.
BOLOGNA
Early on last season, the now late Sinisa Mihajlovic departed Bologna and was replaced by former AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Thiago Motta. The innovative coach once made headlines for suggesting he wanted a 2-7-2 formation. Whilst he was misunderstood for clickbait purposes by many, Motta’s intent to be a little different was clear.
They finished the season well in mid-table and would have begun this campaign expecting to challenge for the top seven and the European qualification spots. Despite losing at home to an impressive Milan side on the opening day of the season, they have since enjoyed two wins and four draws in their next six matches and they hammered Empoli by three goals to nil last weekend.
THE TEAM NEWS
INTER MILAN
Marko Arnautovic will miss this weekend’s visit of his former club as he, as well as midfield duo Davide Frattesi and Stefano Sensi, are currently out injured.

BOLOGNA
Thiago Motta will be without three first-team players for this weekend’s trip to San Siro as Jhon Lucumi, Stefan Posch and Adama Soumaoro are all out injured.
PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Skorupski; Corazza, Beukema, Calafiori, Kristiansen; Moro, Freuler; Orsolini, Ferguson, Ndoye; Zirkzee
UNAVAILABLE: Lucumi (Injured), Posch (Injured), Soumaoro (Injured)

THE PREDICTION
Inter suffered a slight dip in terms of performances about two weeks ago as they edged past a struggling Empoli side by a goal to nil before then losing at home to Sassuolo. They have recovered from that, though, with a good win against Salernitana. Bologna will be buoyed by their own hammering of Empoli last weekend as they continue to push towards the top-half. Thiago Motta’s side will be proactive, even away from home, and whilst Inter remain favourites, both teams scoring looks a good bet for this one.
TIP: INTER TO WIN & BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
