INTER MILAN
Inter Milan are all-but secure in the top four but a defeat against Atalanta would make things interesting on the last day of the season. Inter will need to quickly refocus their attention to Serie A having landed the Coppa Italia during the week as they prevailed by two goals to one against Fiorentina.
After falling behind to an early Nicolas Gonzalez goal, Inter got the job done thanks to a double from Lautaro Martinez with those goals turning the game on its head before half-time before Inter were able to see the game out to claim the trophy.
They may have allowed themselves some time to celebrate that success but this is an important game for them. However, they will be full of confidence having won nine of their last 10 in all competitions while they are unbeaten in their last five home games across the board.
ATALANTA
Atalanta are back in the mix for a spot in the Champions League following Juventus’ point deduction but it is likely that they will need a win here if they are to usurp either Inter or AC Milan. They got back to winning ways last time out as they overcame Verona 3-1 but they may live to regret their prior two losses if they just miss out.
Atalanta have now won four of their last six on the back of their most recent outing in which they overturned a one-goal deficit. Darko Lazovic gave Verona an early lead but Davide Zappacosta levelled in the first half before second half strikes from Mario Pasalic and Rasmus Hojlund sealed all three points for the home side.
They now head on the road for this huge contest and they will believe they can cause an upset here, although they will have to be at their best. They have lost just one of their last four games away from home but it is just three wins in their last nine Serie A games on their travels and that success ratio must be improved on if they are to get the result here.
THE PREDICTION
Inter Milan will be on a real high after landing the Coppa Italia during the week but attention will quickly turn to this tough Serie A matchup with Atalanta. A place in the top four is still not secure for Inter and the away side will be desperate to win to pile the pressure on their opponents. However, Atalanta’s away form is not the best and with Inter proving tough to beat on home soil, it is the hosts that are favoured to prevail in this encounter.
