HELLAS VERONA PREVIEW: VERONA STUMBLING

In January, Hellas Verona’s owners had their assets seized by the Italian financial police and that led to Verona being forced to sell off the vast majority of their key players. They somehow survived under Marco Baroni but he departed for Lazio over the summer, replaced by former Empoli boss Paolo Zanetti.

Verona began their season, with a relegation battle predicted, with a magnificent 3-0 hammering of now league leading Napoli at the Bentegodi. They did then win one of their next five matches. However, they earned a much-needed third victory of the season a couple of weeks ago against newly-promoted Venezia.

MONZA PREVIEW: STRUGGLING MONZA

Over the summer, Raffaele Palladino departed Monza just as they were about to look to propel themselves towards the European spots with him taking up the job at Fiorentina. He was replaced by AC Milan legend Alessandro Nesta, most recently seen in a management capacity struggling to have a major influence at Reggiana.

The visitors have started the 2024/25 campaign as the only winless team in the opening seven matches of this season. They have drawn four and lost three of those opening seven games but did get a positive result in their most recent outing a couple of weeks ago as they shared a 1-1 draw with Roma.

HELLAS VERONA TEAM NEWS: ISSUES AT BOTH ENDS

Hellas Verona are without a couple of key players in their spine as Poland international defender Pawel Dawidowicz and attacker Faride Alidou are both sidelined.

As well as those two, both Juan Manuel Cruz and Abdou Harroui are unavailable for the hosts with key midfielder Suat Serdar also a doubt for Verona.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Montipo; Tchatchoua, Magnani, Ghilardi, Bradaric; Duda, Belahyane; Lazovic, Tengstedt, Dailon Livramento; Daniel Mosquera

UNAVAILABLE: Dawidowicz (Injured), Juan Manuel Cruz (Injured), Harroui (Injured), Alidou (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Serdar (Injured)

MONZA TEAM NEWS: KEY ISSUES

Both Roberto Gagliardini and Andrea Petagna would be key men for Monza if fully fit and available but both players are still doubtful for the visitors this weekend.

Papu Gomez remains suspended due to a doping ban, whilst experienced men such as Alessio Cragno and Stefano Sensi are still sidelined through injury for the visitors.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Pizzignacco; Izzo, Pablo Mari, Carboni; Pedro Pereira, Bondo, Bianco, Kyriakopoulos; Pessina, Maldini; Djuric

UNAVAILABLE: Cragno (Injured), Vignato (Injured), Sensi (Injured), Papu Gomez (Suspended)

QUESTIONABLE: Gagliardini (Injured), Petagna (Illness)

HELLAS VERONA VS MONZA PREDICTION

Hellas Verona have not drawn a single game so far with three victories and four defeats, whilst Monza haven’t won but have still suffered fewer defeats than Verona so far this season. Zanetti is quite a reactive coach, whilst Alessandro Nesta has a clearly defined defensive style of football which he has implemented at Monza. Regardless of who comes out on top in this one, a low-scoring affair is expected for this one.

HELLAS VERONA VS MONZA TIP: UNDER 3.5 GOALS
