THE LOWDOWN
EMPOLI
It has been a really difficult and nightmare-ish campaign for Empoli throughout and they do appear destined to drop down into Serie B. The Florence-based clubs are in the bottom three and the relegation places ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures but they are already onto their third manager of the season but their most recent appointment, Davide Nicola, is viewed as a miracle worker.
He has performed miracles in staving off relegation with both Cremonese and Salernitana and is now trying to the same with Empoli. They come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw in Turin against Juventus last weekend, which backed up a 3-0 hammering of Monza a couple of weeks ago.
GENOA
Following promotion last season, Genoa launched into a very impressive and ambitious summer transfer window with the arrivals of the likes of Mateo Retegui and Ruslan Malinovskiy. They have been a little underwhelming so far this season but they do remain firmly in the middle-of-the-table, which would be generally viewed as a success with survival the primary goal.
Their inconsistent campaign has finally begun to hit a bit of good form, though, with their most recent outings being back-to-Back 2-1 victories against Lecce and Salernitana. Those wins mean that Genoa are now unbeaten in their last seven matches, meaning that they are now six points off the top seven and the European spots.

THE PREDICTION
The hosts have definitely improved of late but even with that improvement has been a little bit over reliant on one or two players. For example, that aforementioned defeat of Monza came from a Szymon Zurkowski hat-trick. Given that lack of reliability and the fact that Genoa are so steady in their form, backing the visitors looks the way to go for this one.
TIP: DOUBLE CHANCE - GENOA TO WIN OR DRAW
