ATALANTA PREVIEW: BERGAMASCI ON THE RISE
Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta are often one of the most entertaining teams to watch in European football and they had to reinvest in themselves over the summer following the departure of Teun Koopmeiners. They are reinventing themselves once again and, after a slow-ish start to the season, have done just that.
The Bergamasci had managed just three victories in their opening nine matches across all competitions but now come into this one on the back of three successive wins in Serie A and their most recent outing saw them demolish Hellas Verona by six goals to one with Mateo Retegui notching his ninth and tenth goals of the Serie A season.
MONZA PREVIEW: STEADYING MONZA
Over the summer, Monza, just as they looked as though they may be about to move into the next stage of their project and challenge for a top seven finish and potential European qualification, lost their manager Raffaele Palladino to Fiorentina and he was replaced by AC Milan legend Alessandro Nesta.
Nesta, who did a fairly average job with a defensive style of football at Serie B side Reggiana last year, has a Monza side that were winless in their opening seven games of this season but they have been much-improved of late with a draw against Roma being backed up by a 3-0 hammering of Verona and then another draw at the weekend against Venezia.
ATALANTA TEAM NEWS: SCAMACCA NOT A MAJOR LOSS YET
The form of Retegui, who is going for the 2024/25 Capocannoniere, means the ACL injury to Gianluca Scamacca has not been a major loss for Atalanta so far this season.
Defender Giorgio Scalvini is also dealing with an ACL injury, whilst former Bayer Leverkusen defender Odilon Kossounou is sidelined through injury alongside Marco Brescianini.
PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Carnesecchi; Djimsiti, Hien, Kolasinac; Zappacosta, Ederson, De Roon, Ruggeri; De Ketelaere, Lookman; Retegui
UNAVAILABLE: Kossounou (Injured), Scalvini (Injured), Brescianini (Injured), Scamacca (Injured)

MONZA TEAM NEWS: SEVERAL ISSUES
Monza still have several experienced players all doubts for this week with Alessio Cragno, Samuele Birindelli, Roberto Gagliardini and Andrea Petagna all potential absentees.
As well as that quartet, Monza will definitely be without the injured Stefano Sensi, whilst both Papu Gomez and Warren Bondo remain suspended for the visitors.
PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Turati; Izzo, Pablo Mari, Carboni; Pedro Pereira, Pessina, Valoti, Kyriakopoulos; Dany Mota, Caprari; Djuric
UNAVAILABLE: Sensi (Injured), Papu Gomez (Suspended), Bondo (Suspended)
QUESTIONABLE: Cragno (Injured), Birindelli (Injured), Gagliardini (Injured), Petagna (Illness)
ATALANTA VS MONZA PREDICTION
Gian Piero Gasperini is one of the absolute best managers in European football and Atalanta have seemingly once again come through a little tricky spot better for it with the front three of Charles De Ketelaere, Mateo Retegui and Ademola Lookman purring. Monza have improved and will seek to be defensively resolute but another comfortable Atalanta victory, especially with home advantage, is to be expected for this one.
