THE LOWDOWN
ATALANTA
Coached by Gian Piero Gasperini, Atalanta come into this one on the back of a 2-1 victory at San Siro against AC Milan in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia. The Bergamasci have had a relatively underwhelming and inconsistent campaign as they attempt to transition and evolve into a new style but they have stumbled upon some excellent form of late.
That defeat of Sassuolo means they have now suffered just one defeat in their last eight matches across all competitions and that came away to their rivals for a top four spot, Bologna, in mid-December. That impressive run of form means they begin this weekend sitting just three points outside of the top four and the UEFA Champions League qualifying spots.
FROSINONE
Following promotion to the top-flight last season, Frosinone have embarked upon an ambitious campaign, intent on playing a progressive and proactive style of football and it has been generally effective as they sit in mid-table but they will be a little worried about their form, drifting towards the bottom three and the relegation places.
Under the management of Eusebio Di Francesco, the Romans begin this match day sitting with a healthy five point lead over Hellas Verona in the bottom three but they will want to arrest their recent slide. They were hammered 4-0 by Juventus in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia in midweek and have suffered four successive Serie A defeats, too.

THE PREDICTION
Both Gian Piero Gasperini and Eusebio Di Francesco would be commonly associated with a progressive and attacking style of football but with the former seeking to become effective in their rebuild and the latter coming under increasing scrutiny and pressure, it is unlikely to be an overly open and thrilling encounter in Bergamo on Monday evening. Despite the lack of entertainment that is expected to be on show for the neutral, Atalanta are the overwhelming favourites, especially with their home advantage.
TIP: ATALANTA TO WIN
